media: acrylic on black Fabriano paper. size: approx. 14" x 17" inches.

A revisit to a half-painted drawing (pictured below) that I had done back in June. The piece is based off a scenario from a short story tentatively titled Jamie and the Girl. I have written only sparse notes on the story while, so far, only have produced two paintings for/of it. (Here’s the first. The swans are sort of a motif throughout the story.)

This particular painting’s color palette borrows from a beautiful and dark romantic series titled “Woodpecker of fine art photographer Jeff Bark. Coincidentally that series has swans, too! So, this can be seen in two ways. A homage to Jeff Bark and to Jamie (also spelt Jaime) and the Girl.

Left unfinished. June 2010. (media: white pencil and acrylic ink on black Fabriano paper.)

August 2010

at a later stage of the painting, I eliminated the cluster of swans out of the composition.

originally based off a drawing made in my sketchbook. June 2010
